The search is officially underway to appoint a new HRNZ Board.

Following a constitution change at last year’s AGM, all current board members are stepping down at the conclusion of the 2024 AGM in October.

By then it’s envisaged the new Board members will have been elected/appointed and will take up their new roles.

The recruitment is being carried out by a Director Nomination Panel (Alan Isaac (Chair), Felicity Caird, Peter Kean, Mark O’Connor and John Hartnell). Recruitment specialists Brannigans will also be involved, and present a longlist to the panel.

Seven new positions are being recruited.

Among the qualities/expertise being sought are :

• Strategic Thinkers: We need individuals with a knack for strategic planning to help navigate our sport’s ever-changing landscape.
• Engagement Experts: Building relationships is key. We’re seeking candidates who excel at connecting with stakeholders and fostering meaningful engagement.
• Financial Capability: Numbers matter. If you have a sharp financial acumen and experience in senior commercial roles, we are keen to hear from you.
• Advocates for Well-being: Health and safety, and animal welfare are top priorities. We’re looking for candidates committed to promoting well-being and ethical practices.
• Compliance Guardians: Rules matter. We need individuals who can provide oversight and ensure adherence to regulations and standards across all manner of risk.
• Industry Specialists: Knowledge is power. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a fresh face, your insights will shape the industry’s trajectory.
• Innovators: Change is inevitable and required. We’re seeking candidates who thrive on driving progress and embracing innovation.
• Tech Enthusiasts: Technology will be key to the sport going forward. If you’re adept at leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, we want to hear from you.

A shortlist will be agreed to in August, with interviews in early September.

Ultimately the panel will nominate four candidates for election by members at the 2024 AGM, with three Directors being appointed by the panel.

HRNZ will formally notify clubs and kindred bodies of the candidates nominated/appointed by the panel no later than September 20.

At the conclusion of the AGM on October 19 the newly elected and appointed Board will take office and decide the chair, vice chair and initial term of office.

Board members typically serve a term of three years, with the Board meeting between eight and 10 times a year.
