The Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Media Awards recognise excellence in harness racing journalism and broadcasting.
This year’s HRV Media Awards have been revamped to better incorporate new forms of media, such as social and digital channels.
These new channels have been embraced by the harness racing community and will continue to be developed into the future.
This year will see 10 HRV Media Awards presented, up from six in previous years.
Media are invited to enter in one or more of the following seven categories (entries must have been published or aired between September 1, 2014, and August 31, 2015).
- Best Coverage (Television)
- Best Coverage (Radio/Podcast)
- Best Coverage (Print)
- Best Coverage (Social Media)
- Best News Story (Radio, Print, Television or Digital)
- Best Feature Story (Radio, Print Television or Digital)
- Best Photograph
Additionally the following three awards will be also be presented from this year. Nominations are not going to be sought for these awards.
- Meritorious Award – To be awarded to a person who has exemplified consistent excellence in harness racing media coverage for more than five years.
- Rising Star Award – To be awarded to a person aged 30 years or younger who exhibits promise and strong values in their coverage of our industry.
- Media Personality of the Year – To be awarded to a person who has gone above and beyond in covering harness racing in Victoria through various media channels.
The winner of each category will receive $500 and a commemorative trophy, while the recipient of the Media Personality of the Year will receive $1500 and a trophy.
All awards will be presented at the Hall of Fame and HRV Media Awards Night on Thursday, October 15.
HRV employees are not eligible for media awards.
