Connections of star Perth pacer Mighty Ronaldo have pulled the pin on the TAB Constellations.
The four-year-old was being seriously considered the Gr.1 $305,000 AQWA Constructions Rising Sun at Albion Park on July 9 following his excellent effort in the recent Australian Pacing Gold 4yo Final at Menangle earlier this month.
Mighty Ronaldo finished third behind Victorian star Beyond Delight, also bound for the Rising Sun.
But trainer Justin Prentice made the decision to return home and focus on local features.
“We weighed up all our options and it was a difficult decision, but we’ve decided to bring him back home and we’ll focus on our four-year-old features. I went right through the carnival program and there was plenty of options including the Redcliffe Cup followed by all the Albion Park classic races but logistically, it was a tough campaign ahead.” Prentice said.
The star young horseman has never campaigned in Brisbane previously.
The Alta Christiano gelding has built a very impressive record with nine victories from 27 starts while earning just shy of $400,000.
Last season, Mighty Ronaldo claimed the Gr.1 WA Derby at Gloucester Park.
The Rising Sun opens the TAB Constellations carnival at Albion Park, the 3yo and 4yo combined feature, which was held for the first-time last year, was taken out by now North American based star mare Amazing Dream.
The carnival runs from July 9 through until July 23.
