NZ Cup Sold out:
New Zealand’s most iconic race day is a sell out, a full two weeks before the event. All ticket options for the IRT New Zealand Trotting Cup Day on Tuesday 10 November are sold out, meaning there will be no more sales, including gate sales on the day.
“After a tough 2020 we realise a lot of people are keen for a party and to celebrate a great New Zealand sporting occasion and we can’t wait to welcome them to Addington,” said chief executive Brian Thompson
Ascot Park’s big day out:
Tomorrow marks Southland’s biggest day of harness racing for the year. Included on the card are three $30,000 Group Threes, the Diamond Creek Farm Classic, the Macca Lodge/Nevele R Southern Oaks and the Alabar Southern Supremacy Stakes, Racing starts at 2.48pm.
Double ton for Gameson:
Paying $42 for the win, Majorca has given Jamie Gameson his 200th success as a trainer. Driven by Alan Cameron in a junior drivers race at Addington last Thursday Majorca was given the perfect trip in the trail, only to take the passing lane and beat favourite Gopati by half a length. Gameson, who trains at Burnham just out of Christchurch, had 31 wins while training with Tommy Behrns (2001-2004) and has had 169 on his own account.
Dunn double in Indiana:
With Dexter Dunn in the bike, Kissin In The Sand has beaten reigning Horse of the Year Shartin N in the final strides of the Breeders Crown elimination at Harrah’s Hoosier Park in Indiana. Dunn has also driven this year’s Horse of the Year contender Party Girl Hill to her 14th straight win. The Chris Ryder-trained three-year-old filly’s next start will be in this week’s $500,000 Breeders Crown final.
Club News:
The Methven Club is gearing up for its third meeting of the season which takes place this Friday, 30 October with the first of eight races kicking off at 3pm.
With local rural contractors and firms sponsoring many of the races, this is only the second time the Methven Club has attempted a twilight meeting and the club is hoping patrons and bettors will enjoy the change.
Friday’s meeting follows on from a very successful Methven Cup Day in October where a record turnover was achieved. The club and McLeod family are very grateful for the generosity of patrons, who donated over $2000 for the two youngsters who are battling spinal muscular atrophy.
Stage one of the club’s housing development Equus Park is almost completely sold already.
