FORMER Kiwi pacer Pulp Fiction returned to winning form at Brisbane’s Albion Park on Saturday night.
The Art Major six-year-old entire recorded a mile rate of 1:55.2 for the 2138m event.
It was only his third win from 19 starts on Australian soil following his purchase last season for a hefty price. He won 12 races in New Zealand for Southland trainer Tony Stratford.
There have been glimpses of his best form along the way, but the frustration continued to build.
“Obviously he hasn’t been easy to sort out and we haven’t seen the best of him since he’s been in our care, but we keep working with him and trying different things,’’ Queensland trainer-driver Chantal Turpin told Australian Harness Racing’s website.
He felt great the other night and was suited by a genuine speed, he was really strong through the line.”
“We’ll just keep ticking him over in the coming weeks and then we might look at a Victorian campaign in November when Mattgregor (10 Aust wins) heads south. That’s the plan at this stage but that will depend on his form and performances.”
Mattgregor is back in work and building towards the $A75,000 four-and-five-year-old championship at Melton on November 11.
