Field Marshal for Perth

Star pacers Lazarus, Field Marshal, Hectorjayjay and Lennytheshark have all been nominated for the $NZ2 million Inter-Dominion series in Perth in November.

The Tim Butt-trained Field Marshal was entered yeserday, while NZ Cup hero Lazarus and Australian-trained stars Hectorjayjay and 2015 Interdom winner Lennytheshark are also nominated.

The $1.3m grand final will be run on December 8.

Field Marshal beat a star-studded line up in the Len Smith Mile at Menangle in June, before running gallant seconds in both Queensland winter features behind Hectorjayjay in July.

The son of Art Major and outstanding mare Foreal, a multiple Group One winner who ran third in the 2007 Inter-Dominion, has won 18 of his 39 starts and amassed over $500,000.

Butt has indicated that Field Marshal will stay in Western Australia for the $300,000 Fremantle Cup on January 12 and the $450,000 WA Pacing Cup a week later.

The Manipulator returns

Promising four-win pacer The Manipulator is back in work at Macca Lodge in Southland.

The now six-year-old by Panspacficflight last raced at Rangiora in June last year. From eight lifetime starts he’s won four and $32,496.

Macca Lodge’s owner Brent McIntyre told Southland Harness Racing’s website  that he’s been jogging The Manipulator since May.

‘’Timsy (owner Neil Timms) gave me a half-share in him. He threw him out on the Mataura River banks for about six months. We picked him up in May and he was looking a million dollars. I’ve just started hoppling him now and I’ll send him down to Tank (Tank Ellis at Oreti Beach) to see whether he’ll stand up. It gives him his best chance down there,’’ McIntyre said.
