Harness Racing NSW will increase the fleet of mobile barriers having ordered new units for the Hunter, Western and Riverina Regions.
At a cost of $250,000 each, the three new units will be strategically located to allow for a sustainable back-up resource to the ‘green machine’ TAB mobile barriers.
“HRNSW improved the fleet in 2018 with five new units relying on much older mobile barriers as back-ups whilst at some tracks they are the primary starting vehicle,” HRNSW Chief Executive John Dumesny explained.
“Those back-up units are up to 20-years-old and whilst reliable it is necessary that the future is covered especially when there is a six-month delivery time from the manufacturers.
“HRNSW has over the past months sourced and supplied to Clubs, water trucks, tractors and other essential equipment through the Asset Replacement Scheme and this will continue on an as need basis.
“The Racecourse Development Fund remains open to Club applications for other projects.”
It is expected that the mobile barrier units will be delivered by Pacific Materials Handling in the first half of next year.
