01 February 2018 | Gary Crocker, Chairman, Allwood Stud Farm 2018 SA Yearling Sale Committee
Well, if you didn’t think things could get any better with the 2018 Allwood Stud Farm SA Yearling Sale to be conducted in Adelaide on Sunday 11th February, they just did.
Australia’s leading nutritionists for horses, MITAVITE, are bringing to Adelaide their long time 30 year ambassador, “Mr Interdominion” Brian Hancock for the weekend.
Brian Hancock, who can rightly be called a legend, will fly to Adelaide on Saturday to attend the Gawler Gold Cup meeting that evening, and on Sunday will attend the prestigious 2018 Allwood Stud Farm SA Yearling Sale.
Mr Hancock will be judging the yearlings to be offered at the sale and award the $500 Mitavite vouchers to the best judged colt and filly, as selected by himself, with the help of the auctioneer for the day and astute horse judge Adrian Hancock (no relation to Brian).
Brian Hancock is a popular figure throughout Australia, but no more than in Adelaide, where he achieved the ultimate success in 1990 with Thorate which he trained, and was driven by Howard James, and in 1999 with Our Sir Vancelot.
Hancock also won the 1994 Sydney Interdominion with Weona Warrior, the 1998 Tasmanian Interdominion with Our Sir Vancelot which also won in 1999 in NZ.
I am sure that harness racing enthusiasts in SA will be looking forward to seeing Brian Hancock back in SA, as much as he is looking forward to renewing long time friendships with them.
