Fresh off claiming her first Tasmanian Female Drivers’ Premiership in 2022, Bronte Millier claimed her first winning treble in the sulky on Sunday night in Hobart.
And she didn’t want to do it by big margins, with 1.1m, a short half-head and a head being the winning margins.
“I have come close a few times with a few doubles, and I did run a close second (placing), so it was good to get my first one,” said the 18-year-old.
Art Major gelding Ranieri kicked off Bronte’s winning night in the opening race.
“I knew he was racing well but he is a horse that needs the race ran to suit, which it was, but then I was a bit concerned that we may have had to go to early when I had to go three wide to get around With Revenge down the back straight,” said Bronte about the pacers 14th career win.
The driver then had to wait until the second-last race for her second winner with $7.50 chance Image Of Starzzz, who overcame barrier seven in the mile event.
“He had been racing better horses than he met last night, and he has a good record at the mile which he raced up to,” explained the driver.
Ozzie Major was the longest price of her winners when scoring at $16 in the night’s final race.
“I didn’t expect him to win going into the race, but we got a cheap run on the pegs, and he was able to just get there,” said the driver.
Bronte is currently taking a gap year from her education studies and working for the Ben Yole stable full-time.
Her three winners were all trained by Ben Yole, who ended the night with five training wins.
