Newcastle horseman Michael Formosa will be heading to Bathurst tonight already a winner.
The 50-year-old mentor has two starters in what is the first night of the Bathurst Gold Crown Carnival.
Formosa was recently chosen as the 2022 Bathurst Gold Crown Honouree.
Formosa has competed in nine Gold Crown associated finals over the years and has been successful in the Gold Crown with Ultimate Art and Shadow Runner as well as the Gold Chalice with Ultimate Art.
“When you look at the list of past Honourees I am sure most people will understand that I feel both honored and humbled to be chosen,” Formosa said.
“When the Bathurst Harness Racing Club Secretary Danny Dwyer first asked me to accept the Club’s nomination as Honouree I was in shock but now I feel just so proud to be chosen.”
Formosa has won 1177 races as a driver and trained 826 winners in his career.
