image001The re-scheduled Melton Plate at Group 2 level on Saturday night will see the clash between to top line five year olds Yankee Rockstar from the all-conquering Emma Stewart yard and the Vince Vallelonga trained South Australian owed Major Crocker.

The pair have met on three occasions with Yankee Rockstar holding the edge two-one.

For Major Crocker it will be his last run before heading to the TABTouch Perth Inter Dominions which starts on November 27.

His owned Gary Crocker won’t be at Melton to watch his star as he is currently in the USA on business, but he will be able to watch the race live via video.

A victory would be some consolation for Crocker who star mare Aratusa Lass, dam of Major Crocker, slipped a foal to Somebeachsomewhere recently.

Yankee Rockstar by Rocknroll Hanover has won 16 times with 3 placings from 21 starts while Major Crocker (Art Major) boasts 17 wins and 10 placings from 41 starts.

Tactics will play a big part in whoever wins as both the favourites are drawn the back line Yankee Rockstar is drawn the inside of the back line and will take all of Gavin Langs genius to get away from the rails while Major Crocker comes out of barrier 10 and it will be interesting to see if Greg Sugars pushes forward early.
