Exciting New Race Series for SA
Harness Racing SA is pleased to announce the introduction of the Mitavite Scamper Series to be conducted at all South Australian harness racing meetings during May and June 2021.
All Mitavite Scamper heats will be conducted over the sprint distance of 1,385 metres (Globe Derby and Mount Gambier) and 1,100 metres at Port Pirie culminating in a 1,385 metre $14,000 Final on Saturday 26th June 2021 at Globe Derby Park.
In a first for SA, all heats and the final will be restricted to just six (6) runners.
In announcing the new initiative HRSA CEO Ross Neal stated “while sprint racing is not new, we believe that limiting the field size to 6 runners will provide greater equalisation of opportunities for all horses in both the heats and final” Mr Neal added “we wish to thank Mitavite for their support of this new initiative, which we are sure will attract interest from our strong local participative base”
All starters in the heats will accrue points with the leading point scorers at the conclusion of the heats, progressing to the final.
Full conditions of this series including the class of the races will be available soon.
Please note: This series aligns with the HRSA’s policy of promoting and rewarding SA participation. Consequently, the series will be restricted to those horses trained and domiciled in South Australia on or before 1st May 2021 and remaining so throughout the entirety of this series.
