8It looms as a battle of major proportions.

A race that should prove very entertaining; two big four-year-old pacers going head to head in a feature event at Albion Park.

The prize is the Gr.2 $50,000 QBRED Triad Final for Entires and Geldings.

The clash between Major Cam and Major Coup should be epic.

Both pacers are still raw but possess natural power and continue to build impressive records as they charge through the grades.

And both pacers are HUGE in size, Major Cam races in a 67 inch hopple while Major Coup sports a 64 inch hopple length.

Major Cam has returned in sparkling form this season winning 5 of his 8 starts while Major Coup has won 7 of his 14 starts this term including the Listed $25,000 Breeders Classic Final at his most recent start last month.

“It’s been a good season so far for Bro (Major Coup) but we’ve still got a few races left this season including this feature this weekend. We’ve been patient with him and he’s now rewarding us for that patience, I’m really happy with him going into this race.” Trainer Wayne Graham said.

“He races well fresh and his recent trials have been solid; he hit the line well on Tuesday after performing well against Avonnova the week prior. The draw is an obvious concern and considering Major Cam has drawn the front-line; it makes it very difficult and gives him the early advantage.” He added.

At his most recent start in the Breeders Classic Final at Albion Park on April 1, Major Coup led throughout as a $1.20 favourite before being freshened.

The Art Major gelding has trial on three occasions to fit him for Saturday’s event.

In the Breeders Classic Final, Major Cam was amongst the vanquished when finishing fifth but plenty has changed since that race.

Major Cam was only having his third run back from a lengthy break and since that start, the Art Major gelding has won four of his next five starts.

On Tuesday, Major Cam was beaten as a $1.60 favourite when third behind Sparkling Cullect and Macworthy which left connections a little perplexed.

“Going into a feature a few days later, you don’t want a hard run but that’s what we got on Tuesday and we didn’t need that but he’s come through that race well and we’re confident he can bounce back this weekend.” Co-trainer Darren Weeks said.

“He’s a nice horse with a good future and this race is well within his reach, Major Coup beat us in the Breeders but he had the draw, now the roles have been reversed and we hold the upper hand early with a front-line draw.” He added.

Punters have rallied around Major Cam with his front-line draw and have installed him favourite for Saturday’s feature.

Both horses look set to clash again in winter carnival features in July.
