1MAGPIES BACK IN THE WINNERS CIRCLE

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley and captain Scott Pendlebury have rebounded quickly from Friday’s disappointing loss to the Sydney Swans, with their horse Stone of Destiny storming home to win the Downtowner TAB three-year-old Pace at the Warragul trots today.

The win was not only a breakthrough for the gelding by Mister Big, it brought the house down with the Raceapacer horse sharing the love for his 15 owners.

And the names don’t come much bigger than Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley and his captain Scott Pendlebury who each have an interest in the horse.

In fact, it isn’t Buckley’s first foray into harness ownership having been a partner with ex-Adelaide coach Brenton Sanderson in multiple Metropolitan winner All I Can Be, also trained by Jayne Davies.

The win came off the back of Adelaide forward Josh Jenkins and Essendon star Michael Hurley booting home Mach Denario with trainer Michael Stanley on Australian debut late last week at Horsham.

Jenkins, who is an unabashed fan of the trots had previously owned promising mare Koree Jayne before her retirement.

Another AFL identity in Billy Brownless seems set to join the fray soon with his gelding Dieu De Lamour steaming home to run second at Tabcorp Park Melton over the weekend.

The win for Stone Of Destiny however, was his first at start number seven but it came with consummate ease as Chris “Puppet” Alford sat parked before clearing out in the home straight.
