Trainer Shannon McLean says Live On Broadway – raced by the Stable of Stars ownership group – will have his second race start in 2-3 weeks after a promising fourth place finish on debut.

Live On Broadway ran fourth to Nicol Shard, beaten just 3.9m, after a luckless trip which saw him impeded by a tiring horse and fail to get clear racing room in the home straight at Yarra Valley on February 9.

“I was very happy with the horse on debut. He was very green and it was certainly an action-packed race from the start, where there was a tearaway leader and he had to lead them up, which isn’t his go at the moment. He would have learnt a lot about it,” McLean said.

“The leader stopped in his face down the back straight, which meant he lost momentum a little bit and had to go again. He fought well up the straight and was right on the back of the winner. For a horse that hasn’t raced, he got home unbelievably in my opinion.”

Stable of Stars’ Hamish McLachlan, who attended Yarra Valley at Live On Broadway’s debut, was rapt with the horse’s performance.

“Huge effort. Didn’t have much luck from about the thousand but to be just bobbed out of third, on we go,” McLachlan said.

Live On Broadway has picked up a virus and will be out of action for a few days, but will most likely return to the trials in the lead-up to his second race start.

The Stable of Stars has been setup to highlight the colour and fun of trots ownership.
