Group race winning Redcliffe Yearling Sales graduate Leos Best showed that he is much more than a one trick pony at Albion Park today, carving out a sizzling mile of 1.54.9 in the 1660 metre 2yo Pace.

The son of Cammibest, posted career best figures ironically in the Cammibest ‘Standing at Burwood Park Stud’ Pace with trainer/driver Grant Dixon never giving the gelding’s opposition a look-in.

Leos Best ($3.00) was sent out in 28.1s and kept the pressure on in the second and third sections posting quarters of 29.3 and 29 flat before breaking loose to steam home the final quarter in 28.7..

Covert Beauty ($7.30), trained by Mark Dux and driven by Pete McMullen and Mucho Macho Man ($21.20 – Wayne Graham) both ran on well to fill the minor placings with the previously unbeaten race favourite, the Shane Tritton-trained Thebattlesjusbegun (Shane Graham) weakening out of the race after trying to keep in touch with Leos Best.

Purchased by Kevin and Kay Seymour’s Solid Earth Pty Ltd at the 2014 Redcliffe Sales, Leos Best has raced just four times, breaking through at his second race start to win the coveted $80,000 Group 2 Garrard’s Redcliffe Yearling Sales Final at the Redcliffe Paceway, 5 June. In that race he came from the back of the pack to blouse the opposition.

After the Redcliffe Sales Final, Leos Best failed to fire in the QBred Breeders Classic 2yo Colts & Geldings Final at Albion Park and a small question mark lingered over the youngster’s head as to whether he ranked among the top echelon of juveniles for this season. He erased any doubt in the best possible way today with his winning time a full five seconds quicker than his previous best performance.

Leos Best, a brother to race winners Mister Fantangles and half-brother Doctor Dave is a descendant of the Seymour’s outstanding racehorse and broodmare Goldrush Girl (41 wins).
