Multiple Group 1 winning pacers Lennytheshark ($4.50) and Hectorjayjay ($4) have been replaced as the fixed odds favourites with UBET after drawing the back row (Barrier 8 and 12) for the Group 1 $200,000 UBET Blacks A Fake (2600m) at Albion Park on Saturday.
Sydney visitor Tiger Tara ($3) was the big winner after the barrier draw at Albion Park Harness Racing Club on Tuesday afternoon, and will start from barrier five for trainer Kevin Pizzuto.
Mr Feelgood winner Spare Me Days’ odds were slashed after he drew barrier one, while recent Group 1 Len Smith Mile winner My Field Marshal ($5.50) will start from barrier 10.
Trainer of Lennytheshark and Hectorjayjay, David Aiken, said the draws ‘weren’t ideal’, but he is confident his charges can still get the job done.
“Hector has got a great finish in him, and ‘Lenny’ can do it tough and will have plenty of time to do what he’s got to do. Tiger Tara has figured better in the draw and he is flying at the moment. He will be the one to beat,” he said.
Tiger Tara has runs on the board against Lennytheshark, beating him in the Group 3 Golden Mile at Penrith last month.
Open class Sydney performer Major Crocker (Barrier 3) gets another chance at G1 level, after running third in the Bohemia Crystal earlier this year. Victorian-based Keryn Manning will drive Mr Mojito from barrier 11, with Mach Doro drawing the outside front row (barrier 7).
Gaining Grand Circuit status in 2017, the Blacks A Fake (Race 8 – 8.38pm) will highlight a 10-race program at Albion Park Harness Racing Club (APHRC) on Saturday night, including the Group 1 QBRED Triad Finals for 2YO fillies and colts & geldings.
More than $570,000 in prize money will be on offer, with some of the best horses from across Australia and New Zealand arriving to stake their claims.
Also featured on the night will be the Queensland Derby at 6.44pm, with the Triad Finals slotted for 7.40pm and 8.08pm.
Racing Queensland chief executive officer Dr Eliot Forbes said Blacks A Fake night would be a major highlight of the 2017 Queensland Winter Racing Carnival.
