Chris and Haley Lang’s Lang Bloodstock have pinned their faith in the champion French trotting stallion Love You at the Australian Pacing Gold sale at Oaklands Junction on Sunday, February 4.
The sire of top trotters Queen Elida, Monbet, Enghien and Habibti has only two representatives at this year’s sale and both are part of the draft being prepared by the popular Ballarat couple.
Lang Bloodstock are certainly no strangers to success in the sales arena and among their forays as vendors have been the multiple Group 1 placegetter Evas Image ($137,087), the Group 1 Vicbred Platinum Homegrown 3YO Classic winner Hes A Hammer and The Redwood placegetter Im Daddy Warbucks.
“Im Daddy Warbucks was the first horse ever to beat Elite Stride. He was going to be metropolitan class but became unsound,” Chris said.
Lot 181 is a half-sister to Im Daddy Warbucks, being out of the Cups winning trotter and 4YO Mare of the Year Miss Warbucks ($148,887), a member of the same family as the dual Grand Prix winner Stent, the dual Oaks champion My Arya and Interdom heat winner Ollivici.
“I think the Miss Warbucks filly will be one of the nicest trotters at APG. She is her dam’s best foal. She’s really strong and just a nice filly,” Chris stated.
The second half of the Lang Bloodstock draft is Lot 148, a chestnut colt out of a Muscle Hill half-sister to the dual Inter Dominion champion, five-time Group 1 winner and horse-of-the-moment Just Believe ($954,673).
“He’s got a great personality. I think whoever gets to know him will like him. He’s always liked his work,” Chris said.
The Lang’s are also preparing two yearlings for respected Melbourne breeder Shayne Last.
“They’re both from very strong pedigrees by the two hottest stallions at the moment in Sweet Lou and Captaintreacherous,” Chris said.
“Anyone who likes the pedigrees will not be turned off by the horses.”
Lot 115, a bay Sweet Lou colt, is from the Art Major mare Arts Image, the dam of three sub 1:56 winners and a close relative of top pacers the calibre of Petracca, Treachery, Lovelist, Major Secret and Beauty Secret.
The second half of S C Bloodstock’s offering is a brown Captaintreacherous filly who ranks as a half-sister by Rocknroll Hanover to the Vicbred Homegrown Classic placegetter Major Drama.
Furthermore, the filly’s grand-dam, Pelicanrama, a winner of 55 races and $730,271, was one of the best racemares ever produced in this country. At the stud Pelicanrama left eight winners, four in 2:00 and three $100,000 earners including Soho Leviathan ($304,135) and Soho Tokyo ($176,316), dam of the Queensland Oaks winner Soho Historia.
The filly is listed as Lot 197.
