Western Australia’s representative Kristy Sheehy made a dramatic move up the 2015 New South Wales Rising Stars leaderboard on the back of a win and a second placing from her two drives at Penrith last night.
Sheehy won the first of last night’s heats on the $1.40 favourite Remarkable for trainer Blake Fitzpatrick. The 3yo son of Badlands Hanover led throughout and scored easily from Virgin Tooth and Del Piero.
Her second drive last night was behind the $5.70 chance The Black Assassin which finished second to Lombo Final Touch.
Sheehy now has 53 points and has moved from seventh to third place behind Jack Trainor (74 points) and Chris Geary (63 points).
There will be a further two heats of the Rising Stars at Newcastle on Saturday night with the final heat at Sunday’s Breeders Challenge meeting at Menangle which features six Group One races.
