Brad Williamson will continue to test the waters with his impressive debut winner Kracka Looka.

The trotter shrugged off plenty of early pressure to run to a slick victory over a quality field of youngsters at Ashburton for her trainer-driver.

Williamson wasn’t convinced he should set his filly on a path towards New Zealand’s juvenile trotting features before the race, despite his high opinion of her.

But he is likely to continue on into the two-year-old season with Kracka Looka following her excellent debut win.

“We are leaning towards pushing on a little bit further with her.”

“I do think she will be better in time because she is a big, leggy filly.”

“But she won well enough today to suggest we could find another race for her.”

Kracka Looka’s win completed a treble of victories for Williamson and his owners from the All Things Harness Racing group.

The All Things Harness Racing syndicates are set up and managed by harness enthusiast Gary Preston.

The highly successful partnership between Williamson and Preston started with an out of the blue meeting at Oamaru racecourse.

“I hadn’t met Gary and I was driving at Oamaru one day and as I was walking down to the stables he stopped me.”

“He said he knew my family and he was in the process of syndicating a young horse by Muscle Hill.”

“He said he was keen to support a young trainer and asked if I would be interested.”

“I only had about six or eight horses at the time, I was only just starting out training.”

“The horse turned out to be Cracker Hill, obviously he was a cup horse and every year since then Gary has bought horses at the sales and syndicated them.”

“There has been a little bit of a wait, but it is great to see Gary and all his owners get some great results this weekend.”

“All together they have five horses with us, including young ones, so for three to win in one weekend is a great result.”

Kracka Looka is by Father Patrick from Phil Williamson’s 10-win mare Alderbeck.

The filly was passed in at the yearling sales, which has turned out to be a good result all around.

“She only went to about $12,000 so Dad decided to bring her home.”

“I ended up syndicating her for what he wanted for her.”

“She couldn’t hardly get a bid, but it worked out well because I had a bit more time to get everything sorted.

“Dad has still got 10% share in her for a bit of fun.”

Fellow debutantes Hoppy and Lottie Moment also impressed when running into the placings behind Kracka Looka in race 2 at Ashburton.
