SORRY Australia, but as proud as we are of Kerryn Manning, she no longer belongs to us.

Following her victory at Terang on Tuesday August 29, it is clear Manning belongs to the world!

Along with being the only driver to win at Grand Circuit level on both sides of the equator, Manning is now the most successful horsewoman on the planet.

Already the world’s leading female harness racing driver, Manning has won more races than any female of any horse racing code thanks to her victory with Mr Mojito.

Heading to the country venue of Terang tied with American jockey Julie Krone on 3,705 lifetime wins, Manning now owns the record outright after the four-year-old gelding outclassed his rivals in a slick 1:53.9MR over 1680 metres.

During her magnificent career, Julie Krone captured a host of majors, which saw her become the first women to be inducted into the American National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.

Beginning her career as a green 16-year-old, Manning registered her first win with Gorgeous Gambit, which scored at Ararat on May 27, 1993.

Since then Manning has been a trailblazer with accolades and records arriving at an amazing rate.

Some of Manning’s achievements include:

  • First female to win the Victorian Metropolitan and State Drivers’ Premierships
  • First female to be Australia’s leading driver
  • First driver to win more than 300 races in a season
  • First dual Vin Knight Medallist
  • Setting the Australian driving record for the quickest century and double century seasons
  • Becoming the youngest driver to win a Group One in Victoria

We congratulate Kerryn on this amazing achievement.
