Plans have changed for emerging Aussie star Jilliby Kung Fu, but the Harness Jewels remains firmly on his radar.

Trainer Marg Lee opted to give him a short spell after the Chariots Of Fire win and fantastic second in the Miracle Mile.

“So that means he won’t be running in the Melton Plate (Saturday week). We’re only just bringing him back into work this week,” Lee said.

“I’d say it’ll be a month or so before you’ll see him at the races again.”

That means fans won’t get to see a return bout between Jilliby Kung Fu and Soho Tribeca (third in the Miracle Mile) in the Melton Plate.

It also ends speculation Jilliby Kung Fu could tackle the Taylor Mile and/or Messenger at Alexandra Park.

“No, we’ll miss those two races now,” Lee said. “But we are very keen on the Jewels, especially with that option of getting over and back to quickly.

“It’s a race we think will really suit him and to be able to get across on the Thursday and home on the Sunday, as they say we can, makes it a good option.

“We will sit down together over the next week or so and make our plans.”

Jilliby Kung Fu has been a revelation since sitting parked and so impressively winning the Group 1 4YO Bonanza at Melton on January 27.
