This Saturday night at Globe Derby Park will see recent Kadina Cup winner Bettor Party attempt to overcome a 40m handicap in the Lion Pty Ltd Pacers Discretionary, a race that looks to be the highlight of the night with several runners that are capable of winning the event.
In his most recent standing start race on May 12 at Globe Derby Park, Bettor Party overcame a 30m handicap, where he circled the field mid race and raced without cover before prevailing by 3.3m. This was on the back of winning the Kadina Cup, held at Port Pirie, by a comfortable 9.9 metres in a blistering time of 1:53.5 over the mile journey.
Tezz Khora finished second to Bettor Party on the May 12 meeting, however given the fact that he meets his rival 10m bettor off Saturday night, he will certainly prove tough opposition. Tezz Khora has a great standing start record of late, winning three of his last four standing start events and the 20m handicap is not beyond him.
This event is far from a two horse race however, with a host of chances on the front and 10m handicaps that are all capable of winning if things go their way.
Floyd Mayweather NZ finished third behind Bettor Party and Tezz Khora on June 17 and subsequently ran well at Melton before winning last start at Globe Derby Park in claiming company, whilst horses like Keayang Storm, Assassinator, Mohegan Sun and Star Of Dionysis have all performed well in standing start events in the past and then there is Magic Trump who is a known good beginner and will run a solid race if it finds the front.
Added in to the mix are the two horses competing in this grade for the first time in Clarenden Hustler, who has progressed rapidly this preparation and Straight Thru Blue NZ, who is first up after having a victory in his final run last campaign.
This interesting and open race kicks of the UBET Quaddie on Saturday Night, which carries a $1,000 Jackpot.
It is also worth noting that there is a $5,722 Exacta Jackpot on Race 1 on the program, to give punters a kick start to the meeting.
