IT will be a big surprise if the Kiwi raiders don’t win at least two of the five heats at Saturday’s opening night of the Inter Dominion.

Sparkling NZ Free-For-All winner Cruz Bromac and multiple Group 1-winning trotter Speeding Spur dominate betting in their respective heats.

Speeding Sour steps out in race four – the second of two trotting heats – and has already been crunched from $1.35 into $1.28 on the Aussie TAB from gate two. Most expect him to lead and win as he likes.

The theory is the same with Cruz Bromac in race seven – the third of the pacing heats – after drawing gate four and looking certain to stroll to the lead and control the race. He’s been $1.50 into $1.28 on the Aussie TAB.

Our Aussie correspondent ADAM HAMILTON analyses the hopes of the seven Kiwi raiders on night one.

RACE 3 – TROTTING HEAT ONE – 9.03pm (NZ time)

WILMAS MATE (barrier one): Form doesn’t read well, but if Paul Nairn think he’s worthy of the trip then commands respect. Has the speed to use draw. Place chance.

ALDERBECK (barrier three): Another from powerhouse trotting stable and comes through the strongest Kiwi races. Could give some cheek.

SUMMARY: Tornado Valley should work forward and control the race, either in front or outside the leader. He;’s low-flying and looks a standout. Kyvalley Blur the danger, especially if Tornado Valley has to sit parked.

Suggested bet: Kyvalley Blur the place $1.90 or better.

RACE 4 – TROTTING HEAT TWO – 9.33pm

SPEEDING SPUR (barrier two): Looks a class above his rivals. Great draw, has the early speed to use it. Should make a winning start to the series and underline he’s the main danger to Tornado Valley for the final.

MONTY PYTHON (barrier five): Can’t beat Speeding Spur on recent Kiwi form, but not much depth in the Aussies in this race so he’s a place chance.

SUMMARY: The weakest of the two heats and Speeding Spur should find the lead and win.

Suggested bet: Include Speeding Spur in an all-up win bet.

RACE 5 – PACING HEAT ONE – 10.03pm

SPANKEM (barrier four):

IM PATS DELIGHT (barrier nine):

SUMMARY: Tricky heat. My Alpha Rock looks the leader and will bowl along with big guns Wrappers Delight and Tiger Tara sure to be right on the speed. Real potential for a hot speed so Im Pats Delight comes right into play if they do go hard.

Suggested bet: Im Pats Delight each-way at $7 or better

RACE 6 – PACING HEAT TWO – 10.33pm

NO Kiwi runners

SUMMARY: Hardest race of the night with big guns San Carlo and Shadow Sax off the back row. Mach Doro, Franco Nelson, Ellmers Image and Galactic Star all big hopes from front row.

Suggested bet: Something on Ellmers Image and Galactic Star (both need $9 or better)

RACE 7 – PACING HEAT THREE – 11.03pm

CRUZ BROMAC (barrier four): Blew them away in NZ FFA. This is much easier, drawn to zoom to the front and win as he likes.

SUMMARY: Would be a major shock if Cruz Bromac didn’t lead and win. Likely scenario is Cruz Bromac leading, dictating tempo with Cash N Flow behind him and Let It Ride three pegs.

Suggested bet: Trifecta Cruz Bromac to win with Cash N Flow & Let It Ride for second and third.

SUMMARY

BEST BET: All-up win bet (Tornado Valley, Speeding Spur at Cruz Bromac) at $2.30 or better

BEST VALUE: R5 n9 Im Pats Delight ($7 or better)

THE ROUGHIE: R5 n11 Joes Star Of Mia ($26 or better)
