3Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) CEO John Anderson has welcomed the news that New South Wales Harness Racing Club (NSWHRC) will move the 2017 Miracle Mile qualifiers back a week.

NSWHRC also announced today the Miracle Mile will be run on a Saturday night instead of a Sunday with the qualifying sprints run the weekend prior.

“We are very pleased from a national calendar view that NSWHRC moved the qualifiers back to allow the Grand Circuit class horses a week’s rest between the Victorian Summer of Glory and the Miracle Mile heats,” Mr Anderson said.

MIRACLE MILE MOVING TO SATURDAY NIGHT

“We think the new schedule by NSWHRC will benefit both Victoria and NSW carnivals.

“We are also pleased that the 4YO Bonanza winner will be granted automatic entry to the Chariots of Fire and the winner of the Ladyship Cup will be granted entry to the Ladyship Mile. I congratulate NSWHRC on these decisions.

“Now that we are clear on how the NSW carnival will be structured, we will work on our Victoria Cup and A.G. Hunter Cup conditions and will announce key dates and events surrounding those race meetings in coming weeks.

“We are also reviewing the Pryde’s Easifeed Great Southern Star scheduling with the addition of the popular International All Star Series. That night has become packed with messages and we will make those announcements also in coming weeks.”

The unveiling of the HRV 2016-17 racing calendar is expected in coming days.
