1A review announced in August by Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Chairman Dale Monteith into all aspects of HRV’s operations is continuing.

As part of that review, the HRV Board today announced an executive restructure.

The restructure will see the home of Victorian metropolitan trots, Tabcorp Park Melton, become an integrated racing venue, where the responsibility for hospitality, metropolitan racing and marketing of the centre all report through to the Tabcorp Park Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The new-look HRV Executive will be headed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with the Chief Operating Officer (COO), General Manager Finance, General Manager Integrity and Manager People and Culture reporting directly to the CEO.

The department under the leadership of the COO will bring together the regulatory racing functions, wagering and marketing to enable a more integrated approach within one department. This restructure will forge stronger links between marketing and what drives the Victorian trots industry’s main income stream, wagering.

The Finance department has been expanded to include responsibility for information technology and RISE.  There is no change to the structure of the Integrity Department.

Quotes attributable to HRV Chairman Dale Monteith

“The HRV Board would like to thank all those who have been involved in the review process. This is both an exciting and a challenging time for the industry. The strengthened structure announced today allows for better cooperation between HRV departments to deliver maximum returns to the industry.

“Tabcorp Park Melton is a crucial asset for the industry’s future and the HRV Board is committed to developing the venue further, both from a racing and hospitality and entertainment viewpoint. Today’s announcements will ensure a stronger emphasis is placed on the marketing of Tabcorp Park Melton, with a clearer alignment of strategic goals between the venue and HRV.

“Revenue derived from wagering remains the lifeblood of the Victorian trots industry, accounting for 71.2 per cent of total income. The Australian sports wagering landscape has never been more competitive and it is the Board’s view that aligning HRV’s commercial and operations departments will ensure healthier collaboration internally as we pursue strategic focuses.”
