Stand starts are off the agenda for Hotasel.
The six-year-old hasn’t handled them at the trials, so trainer John Justice won’t be persisting with that part of the gelding’s education. “He just can’t get his head around them,” Justice said.
Hotasel will resume from a four-month spell tomorrow night in the Alan Mance Holden Pace (2240m) at Tabcorp Park Melton.
The Mildura Cup placegetter has lobbed the pole in the M2-M4 contest, with main dangers Im Corzin Terror widest on the second row in gate 10 and Outrageous El in position three.
“I’m very happy with him,” Justice said of his charge.
“The only problem I guess is we haven’t been able to give him a trail behind the mobile, but I’m very happy with his work.”
A former South Australian, Justice will target that state’s jewel – the SA Cup – in the New Year with Hotasel.
Justice also has Hoo Nien, Captain Snoozzze and Gotta Go Henry at Melton tomorrow. He said Hotasel was his best winning chance.
