A SPELL combined with a return home is paying dividends with handy trotter Reils.
Beginning his career in fine fashion with South Australian horseman Bronte Giorgio, Reils was sent to Victorian trainer Andy Gath where continued his strong form.
Starting to find the going tough against higher class rivals, the son of Skyvalley was transferred back to Giorgio last January.
Following a lengthy break Reils was runner-up when first-up from a spell before scoring at Globe Derby last weekend.
Driven by leading concession reinswoman Samantha Pascoe, Reils overcame a 40-metre handicap to account for Ghent and Swaffham Success.
Having “pulled up a treat” from the outing, Reils will back-up at the same venue on Saturday night.
“I’m very happy with the way he has come back,” Giorgio said. “He had a good long break and it has done him the world of good.
“He has pulled up a treat from his run and is working as good as ever so he will go around again on the weekend.”
With Pascoe set to take the reins once again, Reils will begin from the 20-metre line, which he shares with Robbie Zuve and Southern Alps.
Early markets have the Ian Shephard-owned five-year-old as a $3.50 favourite.
“I’m pleased with the handicap,” Giorgio said. “He should be hard to beat again from there.
“Sun Valley Road is the biggest threat from the front line, while Millys Magic could also give some cheek from the front.”
