THE victory with Mighty Joe in Saturday night’s Temora Cup pushed Mark Hewitt’s driving record to 395 wins.

The 65-year-old horseman has been competing since the 1983/84 season and has raced many top horses in that time.

Might Joe is proving to be one handy type with his recent success putting together a string of wins.

“I’m pretty excited, this old horse has been going well lately and that’s four in a row and he’s won two Cups in a streak so I’m really happy with him,” Hewitt said.

“Just straight away you think about all the top horses that have come through this area and to be winning the same races they’ve won gives you something to be proud of . . . to win a Temora Cup is great.”

Hewitt has indicated that Might Joe will now chase the metropolitan circuit.

Before that Hewitt will head to Riverina Paceway tonight with two starters with Sporty Mickilla and Hurrikane Dude.

There is also a strong eight-race card at Menangle today.
