Fresh from scoring his first Gloucester Park win in Friday night’s Etch Coatings-Western Crown (1730m), trainer Daryl Miller is hoping the wait for his second win in town may only be seven days.
Imahero was a surprise winner of Friday’s $25,000 feature with son Mitch driving, upstaging her more fancied rivals and delivered Miller a breakthrough city win in the process.
Miller, who has been training across four decades, said he was still coming to terms with the win and paid tribute to his sons Dean and Mitch.
“I’m very taken aback by it,” Miller told TABradio.
“I’ve been trying for a long time and it’s a great result.
“It was great to Mitch driving her and Dean has put in a bit of time in with her as well so it’s a family affair.”
The Western Crown win came off the back of a frustrating start to Imahero’s two-year-old season, where she broke in the score up of her APG Sales Classic heat and an injury which saw her sidelined from April’s APG Gold Bullion.
Miller said despite the run of bad luck, he was confident Imahero could play a part in upcoming two-year-old filles feature races.
“There’s no real outstanding ones at the moment and she’s been very consistent all the way through,” he said.
“We’ve got fingers, toes and everything crossed we can keep her going.
“We probably go again this Friday, then think about giving her three or four weeks break.”
Imahero is one of eight nominations for this Friday’s two-year-old fillies race, along with four runners she faced in the Western Crown.
