SOUTH Maitland reinsman Peter Hedges is having his best season in the past six years.
Having already driven 21 winners this term, Hedges will aim to add to his success when he makes the rare trip down the freeway to Menangle on Saturday night.
Hedges is driving the Adam Ruggari-trained Three In Heaven in a Breeders Challenge Semi-Final.
Hedges won a Breeders Challenge heat with the pacer at Newcastle last week, in what was an emotional victory.
Three In Heaven was having his first start under Ruggari’s guidance, having previously been trained by his grandfather Barry Matterson who sadly passed away recently.
Three In Heaven lead throughout in his qualifier and has drawn barrier three for the $20,000 Semi-Final on Saturday night.
Hedges will have some warm up drives at Newcastle tonight where he has three engagements.
Mondos Eagle (race one) and Mondooley Heaven (race four) are pacers Hedges trains himself while he will also drive Better Than Carmer (race two) for Rodney Mercieca.
The iForm team have put together their best bets for NSW’s meetings today:
Newcastle best bet
Race 5: Chatherup (7)
Far from disgraced behind the stars at Menangle and might prove too classy here despite racing older horses.
Newcastle next best
Race 4: Hes The Warrior (9)
Showed enough first up to keep the leading fancies very honest getting a key driver change.
Around the tracks
West Wyalong best bet
Race 3: Tiger Cheddar (2)
Looks the leader and this race lacks depth. A great chance.
Dubbo best bet
Race 4: Ripponlea (4)
In top form, can lead or breeze and win this.
Play the exotics
The Newcastle quaddie
Race 5: 7
Race 6: 4-10-8
Race 7: 5-9-1-4
Race 8: 9-6-4-2
$48 for 100%
