A shadow of doubt lingers over the hot favourite for tomorrow night’s Neatline Homes Shepparton Gold Cup, Hectorjayjay, with the superstar gelding displaying possible signs of a viral infection.
Trainer David Aiken alerted Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) stewards this morning that the Inter Dominion runner-up may be displaying signs of an infection, but added he was not displaying an elevated temperature or other signs of viral infection.
Stable veterinarian Dr Simon Robinson has recommended further blood samples be collected from the gelding and stewards have given permission for that to occur.
