Charity is the big winner thanks to a partnership between the Shepparton trots club and website HarnessNews.
In support of Harness Racing Victoria’s push to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research, Shepparton and HarnessNews formed an agreement, which saw the Shepparton club advertise its Neatline Homes Shepparton Gold Cup meeting on the leading website, HarnessNews to donate the fee to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Victoria cause.
Prostate cancer is such a serious issue among men that it actually takes a brave man to be tested on a regular basis. Unfortunately most blokes live by the “she’ll be right” attitude and ignore the dangers associated with the condition. Sadly, fear and lack of education results in more than 3000 Aussies losing their lives from prostate cancer each year.
HRV began the “Man up and get checked” campaign last month, which saw the governing body donate $500 for every win several key reinsman registered to the Prostate Foundation of Australia. All up HRV donated $12,500 to the foundation.
The Neatline Homes Shepparton Gold Cup will be run on Saturday night with rising superstar Hectorjayjay a short-priced favourite for the $60,000 Group 2.
