2Harness racing will be showcased at the 2015 Deagon Community Race Day on Sunday with three capacity fields in the sponsored pacing races at the historic racetrack.

This event celebrates horse racing’s past, present and future with, for the first time at Deagon, a dual-code meeting providing thoroughbred fans with a taste of grass track harness racing.

In excess of 8,000 people are expected to attend the annual race day at the picturesque Deagon racecourse.

Guests can soak up the atmosphere trackside and enjoy live music and activities in between races. There’s a full 10 race card with seven thoroughbred races and three harness races, which will be screened on SKY Racing with full TAB status. Harness racing kicks off the day’s racing at 11.43am.

Dual code grass track thoroughbred/harness race meetings have been successfully raced this year in the Brisbane region at Kilcoy and Beaudesert thoroughbred tracks and harness racing has established a unique grass track racing circuit. Just last week the Darling Downs Harness Racing Club  conducted an eight TAB race-Warwick Cup harness race meeting  on the thoroughbred track at Warwick’s Allman Park.

The harness racing features at Deagon will be the Fred Cassidy Memorial (1950m); Net Tyres Service & Sales Keith McKay Memorial (1950m) and the Maxtrek Tyres Pace (1950m). All races are from a mobile start with the first two races telecast on SKY1 and the third harness race on SKY2.

General admission to the Community Race Day is $15 per adult; $10 per pensioner with a Family Pass (2 x Adults and 3 x Children available for $40). Children 5 – 17 years is $10 admission with children under 5 years- no charge.

Marquee dining packages are also available but bookings are essential.
