EXCEPTIONALLY-BRED freshman Go Jack Crocker will be given the opportunity to join a pair of his siblings as a Group winner this weekend.

Bred by Adelaide businessman Gary Crocker, Go Jack Crocker is the latest racing foal from broodmare sensation, Aratusa Lass, which boasts nine winners from 10 starters.

Along with Group One winner Major Crocker, Aratusa Lass’ progeny include Group Two winner, Adam Crocker, and dual Group One placegetter, Eve Crocker.

In mid 2022 Major Crocker created history by becoming the first pacer bred by a ‘Croweater’ to pass $1million in earnings.

Go Jack Crocker is by Art Major, meaning he is a brother to Major Crocker.

Making his debut in Bathurst three weeks ago, Go Jack Crocker rated 2:00.2 over 1730 metres to account for Evelyns Dragon and Da Vincent with trainer, Anthony Frisby, in the cart.

“He began well to find the front from barrier four and was then eased to get the right sit behind the leader,” Crocker said. “He showed he’s still green during the run, but he’s got plenty of raw ability and a lot of promise.

“With everything he has shown so far, hopefully he will continue to improve with experience and go a long way.”

Showing natural improvement in his track work during the past fortnight, Go Jack Crocker is poised to contest the $50,000 Sapling Stakes during Saturday night’s Miracle Mile meeting at Club Menangle.

Drawn barrier four in the Group Three, the two-year-old slots into three with the removal of the emergency.

Such is the strength of the field, Go Jack Crocker is listed at $26 with TAB Fixed Odds, with Sweet On Lexy the $2.60 favourite from gate seven.

Prepared by Bernie Hewitt, Sweet On Lexy also made a successful debut by scoring in Bathurst a fortnight ago.

“Anthony said his work has lifted since his first run and he will be better again this week,” Crocker said. “When you take a look at the field, you soon realise he’ll need to be!

“He’s drawn handy enough and can hopefully get a nice run and a bit of luck on the night.”
