With an invite his for the taking, Jilliby Kung Fu is being primed for a Trans Tasman campaign.
Kept fresh since his sensational second in the Miracle Mile last February, the exciting son of Four Starzzz Shark is poised to head to New Zealand for the prestigious Harness Jewels.
Jilliby Kung Fu will contest the Four-Year-Old Emerald, which is part of a stellar Cambridge program on June 2.
Regular driver Jason Lee confirmed the international trip is in motion, with Jilliby Kung Fu “progressing well”.
The entire is trained by Lee’s mother, Marg.
“The Jewels in New Zealand is definitely the plan at the moment,” Lee said. “Whether he gets there depends on his work in the next couple of weeks.
“He had almost a month off after the Miracle Mile, so he put on a bit of weight, which he is now working off.
“His work has been good so far, so we are on target to head to New Zealand.”
One concern Lee does have is getting Jilliby Kung Fu to his peak without racing.
At best, the Australian Pacing Gold purchase will have one start before contesting the Group One.
“Depending on how his work progresses and the programming, but we’ll be lucky to get a start into him before the Jewels,” Lee said.
