Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Board member Danny Frawley has unreservedly apologised for comments made to driver Greg Sugars when attending Yarra Valley trots on Thursday, February 9.

Mr Frawley acknowledged his comments towards the champion reinsman, who is fourth on the 2016-17 national drivers’ premiership tally, were “absolutely inappropriate”.

“In the heat of the moment I made a comment that I deeply regret,” Mr Frawley said.

“My regrettable comment in no way reflects my view of Greg and the great contribution he has made to this industry over a long period of time. I understand Greg has been deeply hurt by this and I am sorry for that.

“I have a responsibility as a Board member and I remain absolutely committed to passionately serving the harness racing industry to help it thrive.

“Greg has graciously accepted my apology and we will move on from this and both work to ensure a successful future for this industry.”

HRV CEO David Martin acknowledged and noted the importance of this apology as part of enquiries into events at Yarra Glen on Thursday, February 9.
