With five drives on her book for Friday night at Wagin, Maddy Young walked away with four winners on the card, a first for the 27-year-old.
“It was my first treble and then first four winners.” Young said.
Going into the meeting, Young was confident that she could walk away with a treble, with both her sister Jocelyn Young horses, as well as Rellim, who is trained by Dean Miller.
“Jocey’s both had good draws and I thought they could lead, and that makes it a lot easier, and Dean’s horse is a nice horse.”
“David’s (Young) horse was the tricky one, but we got the job done.
Young’s night kicked off in race four on board her sister’s horse, Rocknroll Elliot who was having his first start for the stable, but after beginning well from barrier one, the $1.65 favourite was able to lead all the way over the 1776m sprint trip in 2:04:6.
Making it a race to race double for the sisters, Adda Something was able to win in a similar fashion as his stablemate, with the four-year-old leading all the way over the 2180m journey, to hang on for a narrow win in 2:01:0.
After joining his stable in April, Alfredi got one on the board for his new connections at just his sixth start for David Young. The win gave Maddy Young a race-to-race treble, and after making her work for it after pulling hard in the run, the duo were three wide with over a lap to go, claiming the win by a half head in race 6 in 2:02:1 over the 2180m.
Rellim appreciated the drop in class on Friday night, and showed he was all class in race eight, going on to win by 13.1m over his rivals for Dean Miller and Maddy Young in 2:00:6. The win gave Young her fourth winner on the night, a fairy tale ending, with Young confirming that she often only gets two or three drives at a meeting, so it was great to get five drives that all had winning chances.”

Other winners on the night included the Peter Anderson trained Star For Me taking out the opener for reinsman Trent Wheeler. Trainer/Driver Donald Harper continued his good form with See The World taking out race two on the card. The wins gave owner Bob Fowler an early on owning double at Wagin.
Nathan Turvey took the reins on his horse Benji NZ in race three, who made it two from two in the state.
Batavia Dreamer broke through for her maiden win in race six for David Goulden, giving Trent Wheeler his second win in the cart on the night. The six-year-old made start 41 count, coming from behind the leader to win by a head.
