The Swan Hill club has announced that local businessman and former state cricketer Paul Nobes will sponsor next Tuesday’s trots meeting.
Nobes is an active trots owner, currently enjoying good success with his mare Perfectly Written, who is in great form having won her two most recent starts. He also races consistent fast-class horse Mark Dennis and Keayang Squizzy.
Nobes is the proprietor of the Swan Hill Automotive Group was at one stage the Chairman of Selectors for South Australia’s cricket team.
“To have a sponsor with the connections and credentials of Paul is fantastic for the club,” Swan Hill club manager Marnya Watson said.
Watson added that Nobes’ “intricate knowledge” of the trots would help the club succeed in its goals for the future.
At its most recent event a track record fell at Swan Hill following rain leading into that meeting, and the club is looking forward to Tuesday night’s racing as the track has improved further since then.
“The trainers and drivers are extremely complimentary with regards to our track as it provides not only safe racing but most certainly gives every horse a strong winning chance and affords them all the opportunity to run a very quick time,” Watson said.
