Visiting Canterbury reinsman Blair Orange continued his love affair with Manawatu Raceway on Tuesday afternoon, winning five of the eight races on the card.

Orange has now won 24 races at Palmerston North track this season, almost all of them in the colours of fellow Cantabrian, trainer Michael House.

House prepared four of Orange’s winners on Tuesday – Hannah Extreme, Twitter Bromac and Mustang GT and Whataboyz, the latter three all recent additions to his stable.

The quintet of winners took Orange to 146 wins on the season, booting him 30 clear of rival Dexter Dunn in the race for the national drivers’ title.

A trip to Sweden next year for the World Drivers Championship is an added bounty for the winner.

With a 30-point gap and 24 of them coming at Manawatu, it is safe to say that Orange’s decision to take up House’s offer early in the season has been the right one as he chases his maiden driving title.

For good measure, Orange also drove place-getters in the other three races on the card.

One of those races, a maiden, was won by Red River Dash in the hands of Sailesh Abernethy.

She was the first winner for now-deceased sire Ebony N Ivory, which left nine foals in a modest stud career that spanned 13 seasons.

He stood in Stratford under the ownership of the late James McLellan.

Red River Dash is trained in Stratford by Jason Cossey, who bred and co-owns her.
