The Tim Butt and Jonny Cox training partnership scored win number one at Forbury Park on Thursday night.
The victory came via a bold front-running display from maidener Frankie D with Cox in the sulky.
The training partners will not have to go far to discuss the pacer’s future racing plans.
In fact, those could be discussed over morning ‘smoko’.
The horse is raced by stable employee and Tim Butt’s niece, Kimberly Butt, who is also Cox’s partner.
She races the horse with her mother, Karen Prendergast.
Butt has waited more than three years for Frankie D to repay the faith she has had in him.
‘’We bought him as a yearling down South – he has been worth the wait,’’ she said.
Despite owning the horse, Butt can’t see herself getting to drive Frankie D at the races any time soon.
The horse has clicked so well with Cox, she is in no position to take the drive away from him.
‘’I had him at Mark Jones’ when I was working there but then I got Jonny to train him because he is a bit highly-strung.’’
‘’He did a bit of one-on-one with him and they clicked really well so we have just left it the way it is.’’
The Butt and Cox partnership line up strong chances – Rocknroll Magic and Denstown – at Addington tonight in search of their second win.
The star of the stable’s trans-Tasman operation, Field Marshal, was expected to resume racing before Christmas but those plans have been shelved.
The horse has sustained a heel injury, which has set his progress back around two weeks, owner Syd Brown said.
