BB1 - image001First season sires have stamped their mark in the yearling sales to date Lincoln Royal had a colt sell for $50,000 in Auckland while Auckland Reactor’s progeny sold up to $45,000, on Sunday another first season sire LANERCOST, a former superstar on the track, will have his first batch of yearlings go under the hammer at Albion Park in the APG Brisbane Sale.

LANERCOST will be represented by 2 colts and 4 fillies, all are offered by Montana Park Pty Ltd. which is owned by Dean Shannon CEO of Ladbrokes Australia.

Shannon raced LANERCOST throughout his career winning 30 of his 45 starts including, Australian Derby (Gr1), Tasmanian Derby (Gr1) as a 3 year old and the Chariots of Fire (Gr1) at 4.

Shannon told Harnessbred.com “most of his yearlings have his traits good confirmation, good walkers and easy to handle.”

“I just hope that these yearling find good homes and the trainers like them to hopefully boost his numbers in coming years.” He added.

Those who remember LANERCOST racing will testify to his great speed and great looks and he has a pedigree to match.

His sire, Courage Under Fire, needs no introduction to breeders of Australasia.

Courage Under Fire is of course the sire of Millionaire Hunter Cup winnerSmolda 1.50.6,PembrookBenny 1:53.6, Franco Jamar 1.51.9, Courage to Rule 1.51.1, Glengowan 1.52.2,

His Dam – Lanoch by New York Motoring has now produced 8 individual winners, 4 in better than 1.55 and 6 winners in 2.00 or better.

The female line of LANERCOST does not contain any fragile links – it contains stallions that that have shaped breeding in New Zealand& Australia for decades- New York Motoring, Vance Hanover, Scottish Hanover, Garrison Hanover and Grattan Loyal.

“We are hoping to sell all his yearling, we have set realist reserves on all of them” Shannon went on to say “But my two favourites are Lot 431 a filly out of Manhattan Montana (a Betters Delight mare) who won as a 3 year old going 1.57.6 this is her first foal and Lot 435 a fily out of Montana Secrets (a Christian Cullen) mare from the family of NZ & NSW Oaks winner Foreal” he added.

LANERCOST was a brilliant racehorse only time will tell if he can be as successful in the Breeding Barn but for Queensland buyers the chance to buy one of his first crop that are eligible not only for the APG series of 2017 but also the $100,000 Brisbane only race to be run in August 2017.
