PORT PIRIE AND MT GAMBIER COMBINE UNDER
SOUTH AUSTRALIA BANNER
In a first for South Australian Harness Racing, a combined race meeting will be held tonight with Port Pirie and Mt Gambier combining their programs under the South Australia banner.
The 8-race program will kick off at Port Pirie at 6.23pm for 5 races then the program will move 650kms away to Mt Gambier who will pick up the racing at 9.13pm for a further 3 races.
In a boost to harness racing in South Australia the meeting will provide a third weekly meeting and give regional country clubs the opportunity to reconsolidate, grow and become sustainable. HRSA expect this initiative to continue and grow especially as the border restrictions ease for Mt Gambier.
Chairman of HRSA George Fiacchi commented: –
“This unique combo initiative is the brainchild of the HRSA Management team and it ticks a lot of the Board’s boxes through protecting, developing and promoting harness racing in our regional areas.”
“The passion and enthusiasm from the Port Pirie and Mt Gambier racing clubs has been outstanding, they have all got behind the concept to make it become a reality, we expect this to become a regular feature of our racing calendar and if sustainable more frequent.”
The second of the dual-venue meetings is scheduled for Tuesday 27th October.
