Some top class young sire prospects will be represented by their first crop of yearlings at the Tasmanian Standardbred Yearling and Mixed Sale on Wednesday, February 14 starting at 2pm.

The Inveresk Showgrounds, Launceston will see the first local crop of the top flight American imports Sweet Lou and Hurrikane Kingcole.

The former USA 2YO Colt of the Year and Aged Pacer of the Year and the winner of $3.4million, Sweet Lou 1:47 will be represented by a half-brother to the Group winner Modern Ruler 1:53.1 ($185,178).

Hurrikane Kingcole 1:47.6 ($580,000), a world champion three-year-old, has a single lot on offer at Launceston, a filly out of a daughter of broodmare gem Barrington Lass, the dam of 15 winners.

Pet Rock 1:47 ($1.9million), whose first American crop amassed in excess of $1million, is represented by a colt out of the multiple Group winning two-year-old Cloudy Delight (by Bettor’s Delight).

Courage Under Fire and Tintin In America, a pair of champion racehorses and now making a mark in the breeding world, both singly represented at the auction. ‘Courage’ has a filly from the Granny Smith winner Tisu Holly, while Tintin In America, the sire of last year’s Oaks winner Shartin, has a gelding out of the very smart Village Jasper racemare Ima Merry Jasper.

Betterthancheddar 1:48 ($1.6million), the sire of Australasian two-year-old fillies’ mile record holder Mysweetchilliphilly, has a filly out of the Evicus Stakes winner Cher Mon Amour, while the Governor’s Cup winner Sutter Hanover is represented by a half-sister to Jazzy Jane.

The sire of classic winners Usain Jolt, Christmas Jolt and Mynameskenny, Village Jolt ($1.6million) has a gelding out of the 1:59 winner Sharni Mac Cailen nominated in the sale.
