A filly by first-crop sire Lincoln Royal topped the the Harnessbred.com South Australian Yearling sale held at Globe Derby Park on Sunday, bring $14,500
Bred by Michael Taylor and expertly prepared by Mandy Pascoe, the daughter of the Live Or Die mare Transparency Rules, the dam of multiple Globe Derby Park winner Caroline Bay 1:59.9 (8 wins) and promising 2yo Canada Bay, was purchased by prominent owner Frank Borg.
Michael Taylor was thrilled after the sale and praised SA BOTRA for the promotion of the sale “I will defiantly be sending at least a couple over next year” he said.
The sale average was up almost 80 percent on last year’s sale, with an average of the 17 lots $6073.
BOTRA’s Executive Officer Lois Randall said after the event” this is a good result for SA the yearlings were prepared magnificently and it showed with some spirited bidding.” Mrs Randall went on to say “we at BOTRA just want to keep building on the success of this sale and hopefully get our entries upto around 20 to 25 over the next couple of years.”
Fillies dominated the sale with the daughter of Big Jim and French Fashion 1:58.3 ($64,893), offered by White Star Lodge and secured by Ray Holberton fetching $8,000, while a pair of Auckland Reactor fillies, one of out Nowuseemestar and the other from Rivergum Magic, realising $7,500 and $7,000 respectively.
The top price paid for a colt was $7,500 for the Julius Caesar-Pricilla Presley colt, offered by White Star Lodge, and the son of Blissfull Hall and Eastwood Countess (1:59.8), on account of Rivergum Lodge.
An Art Major filly out of Dungeon Queen, offered by Wyndown Stud, was bought back for $13,000.
The Lincoln Royal filly and the Julius Caesar colt were judged the best presented in the pre-sale parade by auctioneer Adrian Hancock.
