AS ADVERTISED before, and evidenced by the results, some of Western Australia’s best maternal families entered the Australian Pacing Gold Sale ring yesterday.

Bucking the national trend, fillies led the way in Perth with three of the top four lots members of the ‘fairer sex’.

In fact, two fillies tied as the highest priced purchases of the day, attracting bids of $57,500.

Lot 416 – a daughter of Bettors Delight and I Am Special – was bought by Annie Belton, while 466 – by Sportswriter from Royal Tour – matched the amount when knocked down to Dennis Roche.

Overall, the fillies averaged $17,000, a massive 25 per cent higher than the colts at $13,693.

One the subject of colts, the top male was a son of Mach Three and Here For The Money – currently known as Lot 412 and bought by Sytka Pty Ltd.

In what was a solid debut for APG in Perth, the sales average was $15,110, an increase of 11 per cent on last year’s WA Sale.
