The two short priced favorite have taken out the Australasian Breeders Crown 3yo heats on the Gold Coast at Albion Park card in Brisbane today.

Just three pacers contested the colts and geldings division with five chasing the filly’s prize. Corporal Luna (Elsu – Find Fake Cash) which finished runner up to Gentle Western in last Saturday night’s G2 Premiers Cup at Albion Park, led all the way for trainer driver Grant Dixon in the first, dictating the pace to score by just over a metre in a 1.59 rate for the 2138 metres, while last week’s Gold Coast Oaks runner up Linda Lovegrace, driven by Shane Graham, travelled three back on the pegs and the Natalie Rasmussen trainee powered home her last half too quickly for her opposition to score very comfortably in 1.57, covering the half in 54.7s.

The Greg Mitchell owned Corporal Luna ($1.80) was tested in the middle stages of the race by New South Wales visitor Controversial (Pet McMullen) but the well performed son of Changeover trained by Shane Tritton could not sustain the effort and trailed the trio home. Redcliffe Derby winner Admiral Bronski, and Art Major colt trained by Mick Grant was perfectly rated by Shane Graham and pounced on Corporal Luna once into the passing lane but the favourite packed too many guns in the run to the line.

With stablemate, Gold Coast Oaks winner Fight For Glory back in the barn, Linda Lovegrace’s task in the ABC was made much easier and Linda Lovegrace ($1.00) put away her opponents well before the home turn. Shane Trittons Looks Like Heaven (Pete McMiullen) filled second place after leading to the final bend and Grant Dixon’s Feel The Faith ran on well to take third, 10 metres from the winner. Corporal Luna and Linda Lovegrace both will now go into the Australasian Breeders Crown 3yo semi finals at Melton, Victoria in August.
