The race for all ages – Fantasy Harness Racing brought to you by Harness Racing New South Wales – is set for its much anticipated launch tomorrow morning.
The talk of the harness racing industry will spring to life and the fantasy will become a reality for enthusiasts keen to try their hand at assembling an all-conquering squad.
Registrations will open on 15 December ahead of the first points-scoring round commencing at Tabcorp Park Menangle on 10 January, 2023.
The game will run for 25 rounds until the final points-scoring race meeting on 1 July which is sure to decide who drives away in the overall major prize of a brand new car.
The innovative new concept will see drivers earn fantasy points based off their real-life results at selected race meetings on tracks across New South Wales.
More than 200 drivers have been given a price and players will need to buy a squad within the $14.4 million salary cap.
Drivers have been allocated to their respective regions – Hunter, Western, Riverina and Metropolitan – in alignment with the regional boundaries established by Harness Racing New South Wales for its annual TAB Regional Championships.
A weekly prize will be handed out to the manager of the highest points-scoring team each week, while enticing prizes will be on offer for the top 10 overall finishers.
“This is a very exciting initiative for Harness Racing New South Wales to be launching and a great opportunity for people to engage with our sport at a more analytical level,” HRNSW Chief Executive John Dumesny said.
“Since we went public with our plans last week it has certainly had people talking and raised plenty of intrigue so I’m looking forward to seeing the registrations come in and watching the points tally’s build in the new year.”
Fantasy Harness Racing will also feature a League function where players will be able to take part in public and private groups – providing the opportunity for head to head battles and contests among friends, family and colleagues.
