Exciting young stallion Shadyshark Hanover a son of Cams Card Shark is already making his mark in the stallion barn.

At Melton on July 4 Shady Secret, became the freshman sires second two-year-old winner of the season, coming from last early Shady Secret,  Greg Sugars took off with a lap to sit outside the leader.

Shady Secret is fifth winner out of the French Chef mare The Milky Way who also has left the $290k winner TeoEnto the winner of 21races and is a dual Group 3 winner in New South Wales.

Shady Secret has only had five life time starts and was for a win and second, she was also close up in a heat of the Australian Pacing Gold before finishing fifth in the Vicbred Home Grown Classic.

Shadyshark Hanover’s first southern hemisphere crop has produced 34 live foals of which ten have faced the starter, for two winners- Shady Secret and Graphics, four othersHastag, Shady Mcfly, Millindollahanova and promising Tasmanian gelding Shady Lou, who was very impressive at his only start last month at Hobart, have all been placed thus far as 2yo’s.

Shadyshark Hanover was the fastest three-year-old in North America in 2011 taking his record of 1:47.8 winning a division of the Oliver Wendell Holmes at The Meadowlands, in which he defeated Roll With Joe after coming from last.

As a two-year-old himself he won four times from 12 starts, he went on as a three-year-old to win twice as a three-year-old.

His dam Shady Past, has been one of the gems of the American stud book. She is the dam of nine individual winners, with eight in 1:55, two in 1:50 and five $100,000 earners including Sharky Osborne 1:49.8 ($867,681), a full brother to Shadyshark Hanover, and Shaky Hanover 1:51.4 ($508,189).

In North America last year as a first season sire Shadyshark Hanover had 11 of his prodigy win  in 1:55 and 24 in 2:00 headed up by the brilliant two-year-old filly Ginger Shark 1:52.4 ($142,500) and the Fox Stakes winner SombaroMontae (1:55.6).Legere (1:53.4) and Shady Stella (1:54.2), both Indiana Sire Stakes winners, JD’s Chancy Design (1:53.2), Sharkitude (1:53.8) and Shady Caroline (1:54.6) are other smart performers from Shadyshark Hanover’s initial crop.

 

Owned by Ian and Judi Slater of Goodtime Lodge fame, Shadyshark Hanover 2016/17 service fee is just $2500 including GST.
