4TOP New Zealand reinsman Dexter Dunn has been booked to drive classy Kiwi pacer Motu Meteor in Saturday night’s New South Wales Derby at Tabcorp Park Menangle.

With Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen dominating the Group 1 race co-training the three early favourites, there was always the question who will drive who?

Owner Merv Butterworth stated early that he wanted Dunn to take the reins on his pacer Motu Meteor.

“He will be driving Motu Meteor,” Butterworth said.

“Dexter is a friend of mine and is one of the very best drivers.”

Motu Meteor has drawn barrier five for the $200,000 Blue Riband and will come out of barrier four with the removal of the first emergency.

Our Little General, which finished second to Motu Meteor in last Saturday’s NSW Derby heat, has drawn barrier two.

“I hope Chris Alford takes Mark (Purdon) on and we get the sit behind,” Butterworth said.

“Vincent is the hardest one and we’ll be in the top four there are no doubts about that.”

Purdon remains driving the $2.30 Tab Fixed Odds favourite Vincent while Rasmussen will partner Ultimate Machete.
